Aberdeen to become Scotland’s first gigabit-speed fibre broadband city

Aberdeen is set to become a forerunner for digital transformation in Scotland with the announcement of a new Gigabit-capable full fibre broadband network under the Vodafone and CityFibre Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) programme. The Vodafone and CityFibre partnership will mean that Aberdeen becomes Scotland’s first city in which nearly every home and business will have access to gigabit-speed broadband.

The new low cost tariff comes as BT research reveals that since the pandemic, almost three quarters (74%) of Brits would not find it easy to improve their financial situation without connectivity.

BT launches Home Essentials Fibre Broadband Social Plan

BT’s social tariff, Home Essentials is now available for customers to buy online. Announced back in April, BT Home Essentials is exclusive to those on Universal Credit and a range of other means-tested benefits, the package offers fibre broadband and calls for £15 a month, saving customers £240 a year compared to an equivalent package.
