WhatsApp Dark Mode

WhatsApp Dark Mode coming to Desktop and Web

WhatsApp brings the Dark side to the computer

Back in March, WhatsApp rolled out Dark Mode to Android and iOS, and the company today announced that Dark Mode will shortly be coming to both Desktop and Web versions of WhatsApp.

Dark mode has many benefits: as well as preventing eye strain, it’s also supposed to mitigate the effects of blue light which can keep you up at night. It’s also expected to boost battery life by 30 per cent.

In addition, WhatsApp will be rolling out additional features within the next two weeks.

Animated Stickers

Stickers are one of the fastest growing ways people communicate on WhatsApp, with billions sent every day. WhatsApp will be rolling out new animated sticker packs that they say are even more fun and expressive.

QR Codes

It will shortly be easier than ever to add a new contact using a QR code. Soon when you meet someone new, you will be able to scan their QR code to add them to your contacts. No more tapping in their digits one at a time.

Improvements to group video calls

With now up to 8 people on a video call, it’s easier to focus on whoever you want by letting you press and hold to maximize a participant’s video to full screen. A video icon has also been added in group chats of 8 or less, so you can easily start a group video call with 1-tap.

Status comes to KaiOS

KaiOS users can now enjoy the popular feature that lets you share updates that disappear after 24 hours.

WhatsApp says the new features will be rolling out wordwide over the next two weeks.
