Realme 8 5G now available in UK

MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor makes its debut in UK with the Realme 8 5G

Realme 8 5G, the third device in the Realme 8 series, has been launched in the UK as the first phone in the UK to be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor. The Realme 8 5G is also now the cheapest 5G phone available in the UK.

The MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor makes its debut in UK with the Realme 8 5G. The Dimensity 700 is an octa-core processor built on top of a 7nm process with two Cortex-A76 CPU cores clocked at 2.2Ghz and six efficient Cortex-A55 cores running at 2GHz.  Taking care of the graphics and gaming is the Mali-G57 GPU clocked at 950MHz. The chipset also supports a 5G network. 

There is a 6.5-inch IPS LCD display with 1080p resolution and 90Hz refresh rate (180Hz touch sampling rate). There is a hole punch cut-out at one end housing a 16MP selfie camera (with Nightscape support) and Dragontrail Glass protection. Realme claims the panel can achieve up to 600nits of peak brightness.

Under the hood, the phone comes with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB UFS2.1 storage as standard. There is support for expandable storage via a dedicated micro-SD card slot. Software inside the phone is Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11. Powering the phone is a massive 5,000mAh battery though charging is capped to 18W (Realme 8 5G supports faster 30W charging). Realme will ship a compliant charger in the box.

The Dynamic RAM Expansion is present on the Realme 8 5G which uses the available ROM to turn it into RAM. The 4GB RAM is equivalent to 5GB and the 8GB is equivalent to 11GB, in lab testing’s, according to the company.

The Realme 8 sports a 64MP AI quad-camera setup, 30W Dart Charge, a huge 5,000mAh battery, a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, and is powered by MediaTek’s Helio G95 octa-core processor. 

For photography, the phone has three cameras on the back: a 48MP main Samsung GM1 sensor with f/1.8 aperture lens, and two 2MP sensors, one monochrome (portrait) and another for macros.

As a 5G leader, realme will keep on democratizing 5G models to various price segments to make it affordable for a massive number of users.”

Realme 8 5G will be available in Cyber Silver, Cyber Black, and Punk Black colours. from the 20th May for a limited-offer price of just £179, which will increase to £199. Additionally, the Realme 8 5G 128GB, is priced at £249, with a limited-offer price of £229. Both limited offer prices run from May 20th to May 23rd.
