Apple has launched Tap to Pay on iPhone in New Zealand, allowing businesses of all sizes to use the iPhone to accept contactless payments without the need to purchase or manage additional hardware.
Starting today, Adyen, ANZ Bank, Stripe, Windcave and Worldline are the first payment platforms in New Zealand to offer Tap to Pay on iPhone.
Payment apps me&u and Timely will also have Tap to Pay on iPhone available at launch.
Tap to Pay on iPhone will be available across New Zealand at merchants such as Air New Zealand, Lorna Jane and R.M.Williams.
Tap to Pay on iPhone supports contactless credit and debit cards from leading payment networks, including American Express, Discover, JCB, Mastercard and Visa.
Tap to Pay on iPhone allows merchants of all sizes to accept all forms of contactless payments, including contactless credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets, using only an iPhone and the Mollie app — no additional hardware or payment terminal needed.
With Tap to Pay on iPhone at checkout, the merchant will simply prompt the customer to hold their contactless payment near the merchant’s iPhone, and the payment will be securely completed using NFC technology.
Tap to Pay on iPhone also supports PIN entry, which includes accessibility options.
Apple’s Tap to Pay on iPhone technology uses the built-in features of iPhone to keep the business and customer data private and secure. When a payment is processed, Apple doesn’t store card numbers or transaction information on the device or on Apple servers.
