LINE Aims to Strengthen Partnerships with LINE-Related Services for Expansion of the “LIFE†Platform
LINE Corporation, owner and operator of the free call and messaging app LINE, today announced their decision to establish the LINE Life Global Gateway, an investment fund that will target service providers operating in the areas of O2O, e-commerce, payment, media, and entertainment, as part of efforts to expand its LIFE platform business.
The fund is a key part of Line’s strategy to make sure that its future earnings does not depend too heavily on its messaging app or connected games platform, which the company currently derives most of its revenue from.
At the LINE Conference Tokyo 2014 held in October 2014, LINE announced its plan to become a platform for everyday life for all users both online and offline under the theme of “LIFE.†LINE Life Global Gateway was created to accelerate and step up these efforts.
LINE Life Global Gateway fund provides financial support to service providers operating in the fields of O2O, e-commerce, payment, media, and entertainment. By working closely with these companies, LINE aims to enhance the services that have evolved from LINE and reinforce the foundation for LINE to grow further as a global platform.
