Pebble has released an early version of its software development kit for the Pebble Time Smartwatch.
Apps built with Pebble SDK 3.0 are compatible with existing Pebble watches and will be compatible with Pebble Time. Switching to 3.0 only requires minor changes to your application. Once those changes are done, you can easily add color support for Pebble Time watches.

By default, apps built with SDK 3.0 will generate a .pbw file that runs on firmware 2.9 and 3.0: This package contains one binary and one resource file for each platform.
Included with the SDK (and also available on CloudPebble) is a port of the QEMU emulator for Pebble. You can use this emulator to test your apps on both platforms. The Pebble 3.0 SDK emulator will run SDK 3.0 apps as well as those compiled for SDK 2.x.
Apps using PebbleKit iOS do not need any changes to work with Pebble Time.
Android apps built with PebbleKit Android will need to be rebuilt with PebbleKit Android 3.0, coming soon.
