LG G3 is a 5.5″ phone with Quad-HD Resolution
LG has announced the LG G3, its latest flagship Android smartphone and the first to feature a quad-HD screen, giving it a resolution far higher than any other smartphone.
Announced at a media even in London, the LG G3 comes with a 5.5-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 and a pixel density of 534 per inch.
That screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and has super slim bezels, helping the phone’s footprint to stay relatively trim.
To match the beautiful screen, LG has given the G3 a brushed aluminium finish similar to the HTC One (M8), giving the handset a premium look and feel. The phone will be available in grey, silver and rose gold.
The G3 is powered by Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz and 2GB of RAM. There’s 16 or 32GB of internal storage, which can be topped up thanks to a microSD slot accepting cards of up to 128GB. There is also a version with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.
Compatible with all of the UK’s 4G networks, the G3 has a 13-megapixel camera featuring optical image stabilisation on its back, joined by a 2.1-megapixel snapper on the front.
That main camera is joined by a rear-mounted volume rocker and power/screen lock button. The rear camera is joined by an infrared laser autofocus.
Having a large, almost phablet-sized screen means the G3 packs an equally large battery, boasting a 3,000mAh capacity which will hopefully see the phone and its quad-HD screen through a full day of use without issue.
The curved metallic back of the G3 varies in thickness from 2.75mm to 8.9mm at its thickest point.
The G3 will be sold alongside an official LG cover called the QuickCircle. The case has a circular cut-out which lets the phone show the time, date, weather and notifications – similar to the Samsung Galaxy S3 – and the G3 can be interacted with through the case. You can make calls, read text messages, control music playback and more through the circular hole.
