Apple has announced a few new features for OS X Yosemite, the upcoming version of OS X for the Mac.
Among the flattening of the various icons and the additions of the Today view for Notification Center, Apple demoed the ability to synchronize an iPhone to a Mac to receive calls and texts.
This means that the Messages app, in addition to facilitating iMessages between Apple devices, can now field phone calls and regular text messages. The Mac can become a speaker phone for an iPhone, and can receive or initiate calls.
Users can also share in-progress emails, recently-visited web pages and other pieces of content easily between iOS and OS X devices.[signoff predefined=”Enjoy this?” icon=”icon-users”][/signoff]
