Apple is unveiling its latest iPhone models on 9 September, including what is expected to be the company’s first foldable phone going by the moniker ‘iPhone Ultra’.
Also expected to be unveiled at the event are the Apple iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra, the iPad mini 8, AirPods Pro, as well as possible updates to Apple TV,
The main attractions of the September 9 event will undoubtedly be the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the iPhone Ultra.
The event, carrying the tagline ‘Surprise and shine,’ will take place at Apple Park in California. It will also mark the first major product launch under new CEO John Ternus, who takes over from Tim Cook on September 1.
This will be Apple’s first foray into the foldable phone market, with the new model equipped with two screens: rumoured to be an internal 19.8-centimetre screen that can be opened like a book and a 13.5-centimetre display on the outside for more typical smartphone usage.
The device is also rumoured to have four cameras — two on the back, one on the inside and one front selfie camera.
The iPhone Ultra is also expected to include Apple’s latest processor, the A20 Pro, which is expected to be 18% faster and use 30% less energy than the previous iteration, the A19 Pro, and to be rolled out in the iPhone 18 Pro and Prox Max high-end models.
Not all members of the iPhone 18 family are expected to appear at the September Apple iPhone Event. Current rumours suggest that the standard iPhone 18 and a new, more affordable iPhone 18e will arrive separately in spring 2027 rather than alongside the Pro models.
This staggered approach would give Apple two distinct iPhone launch windows in its 2026–2027 product cycle, with premium devices leading in September and mid-range models following several months later.
Alongside hardware, Apple is expected to announce the official release dates for its next major software updates. These include:
- iOS 27 for iPhone
- iPadOS 27 for iPad
- macOS Golden Gate for Mac
As in recent years, the software is likely to become available to the public shortly after the September keynote, with the exact dates confirmed during the Apple iPhone Event presentation.
