BBM for iOS Beta gets an update bringing Private Chat and new Privacy and Control subscription

At the beginning of the month, BlackBerry released a beta of BBM for Android which introduced private chats. Today, BlackBerry have released a new Beta update for BBM for for iOS which also implements private chats but bundles it with the Timed Message and Retraction subscription to create a new package called Privacy and Control.

Private Chat allows you to make sure your sensitive messages are kept confidential. In a private chat, all contact information is hidden, and new message notifications are discreet. Your chat is automatically deleted on both ends when the chat is inactive or closed.

To start a private chat, tap the private chat icon at the top right corner of a 1:1 chat. Private chat is included in the new Privacy and Control Subscription, which bundles several powerful features into one convenient subscription.

In addition to private chats, this beta release brings an improved BBM performance in App startup and scrolling and also fixes Apple keyboard rendering issues.

The new Privacy and Control subscription includes the following components:

  • Private Chat
  • Edit Message
  • Timed Messages and Pictures
  • Retract Messages

iOS users currently on the beta program will receive an email containing the download link or you can load up TestFlight where you should find the update.
