Mercedes-Benz releases some Apple CarPlay details and photos

Yesterday, Apple announced CarPlay and Volvo gave us a sneak peak in a video. Today, Mercedes-Benz has released some details and photos regarding their upcoming CarPlay integration.

Mercedes debuted the system at the Geneva Motor Show with their new C-Class model. CarPlay in the C-Class consists of a tablet-like screen mounted above the central panel, which the phone will connect to via Lightning connector.

In addition to the Phone, Music, Maps, Messages, and Now Playing buttons, their will also be a button for Mercedes’ own COMAND app:

Last June, as part of its 24th WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference), Apple announced a so-called in-car infotainment system based on its “iOS in the Car”.

Now the company has announced the official completion and release of the iPhone-based solution under the name “CarPlay” which gives iPhone users an incredibly intuitive way to make calls, use maps, listen to music and access messages with just a word or a touch. Mercedes-Benz is the only German premium automotive manufacturer which is planning to support the system from the outset, and is demonstrating how it works in Geneva in a new C-Class.
