Google releases Google Docs and Sheets for Android Add-Ons

Google has rolled out a series of third-party add-ons to Google Docs and Sheets for Android users who use the productivity tools on the go.

With the add-ons support, users can sign documents, import CRM data, create apps from spreadsheets and more.

“We’re excited to introduce Android add-ons for Docs and Sheets, a new way for you to do just that—whether it’s readying a contract you have for e-signature from your phone, or pulling in CRM data on your tablet for some quick analysis while waiting for your morning coffee, Android add-ons can help you accomplish more,” said Saurabh Gupta, product manager, Google apps.

Google has announced nine add-ons apps for Docs and Sheets. These include DocuSign, Google Classroom, Scanbot, Zoho CRM, AppSheet, EasyBib: Citation Generator, Teacher Aide, ProsperWorks CRM, and PandaDoc: Sign Any Doc Online.

DocuSign and PandaDoc can be used to sign documents on-the-go, while Scanbot can be used to scan PDF documents using built-in OCR. AppSheet allows users to create mobile apps based on the data from Google Sheets without any coding. To import the CRM data, users can use ProsperWorks add-on. The complete collection can be seen on Google Docs Add-On page on Google Play Store.

Google is also expected to add more in its collection in future.

The company’s main focus seems to be on its apps these days. The search giant in order to make Android apps more discoverable, announced eight new app categories to the Google Play Store. The new categories that users will see on Google Play Store are Art & Design, Auto & Vehicles, Beauty, Dating, Events, Food & Drink, House & Home, and Parenting. Few categories will also be renamed.
