Google Street View now available as standalone app on Android and iOS

Google has announced that Google Street View is now available as a standalone app on Android and iOS. The app that is being updated to version 2.0 comes with some handy features.

The new Street View app will now allow users to shoot their own 360-degree panoramas that the company is calling as photo spheres—directly from an iPhone or Android smartphone.

Photos can be directly shot from within the new Street View app and they are automatically uploaded to Google Maps.

A new Explore tab has been added to the app that will enable you to browse a wide range of existing photo spheres that Google has made available.

The Street View app will replace the Photo Sphere Camera app for iPhones and the Street View from Google Maps app on Android phones.

The app is available for download on iTunes and Google Play.
