HERE maps for Android and Windows Phone updated worldwide

HERE Maps on both Android and Windows Phone are just about to get a pretty substantial update.

The update brings many improvements that further make enhance the navigation app.

HERE Maps now comes with numerous improvements and enhancements to turn-by-turn navigation, which is now available in a handful of new locations around the globe. More in-depth information about public transportation  is a part of the equation as well.

Cyprus, Mayotte and Zimbabwe have had their entire maps updated to navigable status, meaning you can now get full turn-by-turn directions across those countries. Meanwhile, there have been significant improvements to the maps for Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Fiji, Gambia, Liberia, Madagascar, Sierra Leone and Somalia.

The updated versions of the app both come with improved “water features”, meaning that the app will provide you with way more accurate representation of inland ponds, lakes, and rivers, for example.

General improvements and map updates are also part of the changelog and almost all regional maps have been updated, too.

How to update

On Android, you’ll get a notification when it’s time to update. Follow the instructions given to update your downloaded maps.

You will need to restart the app in order to see the new changes on the map.

Windows Phone users are probably familiar with the process. Open the settings app on your phone, then tap the applications tab > maps > check for updates. Click on the maps to update and a minute later, you’re done.
