BlackBerry Cylance Named A Strong Performer in 2019 Forrester Wave

BlackBerry Cylance, a business unit of BlackBerry, today announced that Forrester Research has selected the company as a strong performer in the recent Forrester Wave report covering cybersecurity incident response (IR) services.

The global report highlights the BlackBerry Cylance consulting team’s well-defined processes to ensure effective incident response.

The Forrester Wave report is an in-depth assessment of 15 of the most significant cybersecurity IR services vendors across 11 criteria. BlackBerry Cylance Consulting achieved the highest possible score for incident response, supporting products and services, average hours per response, and industrial control systems (ICS).

In the 11-criterion evaluation of cybersecurity incident response services providers, Forrester identified the 15 most significant ones — Aon, Booz Allen Hamilton, CrowdStrike, Cylance, Deloitte, EY, FireEye, IBM, KPMG, NCC Group, Optiv, PwC, Secureworks, Trustwave, and Verizon — and researched, analysed, and scored them.

The report shows how each provider measures up and helps security and risk professionals select the right one for their needs.

Forrester’s research uncovered a market in which FireEye, Deloitte, CrowdStrike, and IBM are Leaders; Aon, Verizon, Cylance, PwC, Booz Allen Hamilton, and Secureworks are Strong Performers; Optiv, KPMG, EY, and Trustwave are Contenders; and NCC Group is a Challenger.

Forrester state.

Cylance has well-defined processes and tooling to ensure effective incident response. Cylance is a global company that will only have greater reach with its recent acquisition by BlackBerry. It has a wide range of products and services, and it has established partnerships with law firms as well as insurance brokers and carriers.

Cylance has demonstrated incident response expertise including investigating industrial control system (ICS) environments. It’s weaker when it comes to compliance reviews, frequently relying on clients to be aware of regulatory issues impacting how it should conduct the investigation. Overall, it receives positive feedback from client references and would be a good all-around choice.

Corey White, chief customer officer at BlackBerry Cylance Consulting said,

“We’re so pleased to see Forrester reinforce the effectiveness of our proven AI incident response methodology based on containment, remediation, and prevention,” said

The Wave report noted that Cylance Consulting will now have greater reach as a result of its recent acquisition by BlackBerry and recognised the company’s wide range of products and services that include established partnerships with law firms and insurance organisations—two industries with significant investments in IR services.

White added,

“Our expert consultants work quickly to not only resolve incidents and restore operations, but also to leverage BlackBerry Cylance’s first-of-its-kind artificial intelligence to get ahead of the kill chain and prevent incidents before they happen. Our ability to rapidly quarantine known and unknown malware, deploy sophisticated detection rules, and support AI-driven automated response, give customers the predictive advantage they need before any data, systems or reputations are damaged.”

The BlackBerry Cylance consulting team taps BlackBerry Cylance’s industry-leading native AI platform for incident response services that mitigate security breaches around the world. The company’s methodologies provide faster and more accurate results to ensure incidents are fully remediated and threats are quickly removed from the environment with minimal business interruption.

“BlackBerry Cylance Consulting is one of the few vendors listed in the Forrester Wave that uses its own products,” said Sasi Murthy, vice president of product marketing at BlackBerry Cylance.

“Unlike services or consulting firms that leverage third-party tools, we are intimately familiar with BlackBerry Cylance’s award-winning approach for assessing vulnerabilities, resolving security breaches, and establishing a prevention-first approach that allow our customers to prevent future attacks and maintain business continuity.”
