BlackBerry hires Bryan Yearwood as new Licensing Director

Yearwood will be responsible for patent licensing matters and the settlement of patent litigation through licensing.

BlackBerry has hired Brian Yearwood as a new director of licensing. Yearwood will be responsible for patent licensing matters and the settlement of patent litigation through licensing.

He will provide business/financial advice and preliminary damages analysis for patent litigation matters– delivered to the litigation team and plaintiff/client and work with external damages experts to prepare damages report for litigation matters.

In addition, he will manage the firm’s initial analysis of patents being considered for alternative fee arrangements for infringement, validity, and damages.

Yearwood has over 22 years experience as an IP Licensing Executive with extensive experience in all facets of intellectual property, including monetisation, assessment, acquisitions, divestitures, management, negotiations, valuation, marketing, technology transfer, organisational structure, contracts, agreements, strategy and tactics.

IP Licensing represents a marriage of technology, business and patent skill in a way that requires and capitalises on the skills of all three disciplines.
