OnwardMobility, the company that has licensed the BlackBerry brand to produce a new BlackBerry-branded 5G smartphone, has named public relations firm Rainier Communications as its agency of record. The technology strategy, public relations and marketing agency launched OnwardMobility on August 19.
OnwardMobility initially selected Rainier as AOR to announce the pivotal licensing partnerships that allow the company to bring the next generation of BlackBerry-branded smartphones to market early next year. In the days leading to and following OnwardMobility’s launch announcement, Rainier set up 17 interviews, secured nearly 2,000 unique articles, social media posts including influencer posts, and other coverage of the news.
“This was one of the biggest launches I’ve ever seen, even after working with many big-name, Fortune 100 companies,” said Melody Russell, Senior Vice President of Marketing at OnwardMobility.
For its ongoing work with OnwardMobility, Rainier is continuing what it claims to be its aggressive outreach around the young company’s milestones and plans, elevating market awareness and market anticipation through news announcements, high-value speaking engagement and award opportunities, and continually building the company’s brand through thought-leadership programs highlighting the urgent need for ultra-secure smartphones.
“The Rainier team made sure the millions of people hungry for the next generation of BlackBerry 5G smartphones learned about our exciting and ambitious story – and they accomplished it all in just a handful of weeks working together,” said Peter Franklin, OnwardMobility’s CEO.
“From the onset of our relationship with Rainier, we knew they were invested in our success, and they quickly became integral, strategic members of our team. They weren’t afraid to be tough with us, they consistently went the extra mile to ensure a successful announcement, and they helped guide us every step of the way.”
OnwardMobility’s announcement of its partner agreements with BlackBerry and Foxconn subsidiary FIH Mobile was crafted by Rainier and augmented with an executive video scripted and produced by the agency. By design, the media coverage voiced the company’s key messages that the new BlackBerry devices will be 5G ready, feature rich and laser-focused on delivering the highest levels of security and productivity.
“As do so many of our clients, OnwardMobility chose Rainier because of our track record in bringing advanced technology products to market, and our focus on strategy and thought leadership versus scattershot public relations,” said Rainier CEO Steve Schuster.
“Consequently, we played an important role in advising the company on their go-to-market roadmap, and I’m proud the Rainier team executed our plan with pitch-perfect results.”
