“We’re honoured the information security community has recognised our leadership in prevention-first, security solutions with artificial intelligence at the core,” said Stuart McClure, co-founder of Cylance and president of BlackBerry Cylance.

“We’ve deployed threat conviction models in customer environments that were able to detect and block the top 10 malware attacks—including WannaCry and NotPetya—on average of two years before those attacks were first detected online.

This proven over-the-horizon prevention capability against known and unknown malware is the predictive advantage we offer our global customers.”

The BlackBerry Cylance AI platform delivers a full suite of security solutions for comprehensive attack surface protection with deep-learning Al algorithms to support automated threat detection, prevention, forensic investigation, and response capabilities to customers worldwide.

Its lightweight agent offers high performance and resiliency and requires only minimal updates to sophisticated multigenerational AI models that provide powerful data science capabilities designed to protect against future threat variants.

Cylance’s machine learning and artificial intelligence technology is a strategic addition to BlackBerry’s end-to-end secure communications portfolio. Notably, its embeddable AI technology will accelerate the development of BlackBerry Spark, the secure communications platform for the Internet of Things (IoT).
