Virgin Media O2 remove Data charges in Ukraine and more

Virgin Media O2 have removed charges for data use in Ukraine and will also credit charges for calls and texts to and from Ukraine and the UK.

The aim is to help any Virgin Media O2 customers in Ukraine and ensure customers in the UK that need to contact someone in the country can do so.

Virgin Media O2 stated today:

We are deeply troubled by the events taking place in Ukraine and know that some of our customers or their loved ones and friends may be directly affected. 

As the situation continues to unfold, we recognise that connectivity will play a crucial role and we want to provide support to those who need it.

The specific details of this support is as follows:

  • These measures apply to customers on O2 Pay Monthly, O2 Pay as you Go, Virgin Media O2 Business customers, Virgin Media home phone customers, and giffgaff customers
  • Texts and data use, and all calls to and from the Ukraine, will be covered
  • This will cover the period 21 Feb until 6 March 2022, but this will be kept under review
  • Charges will be credited back to customers automatically – they do not need to do anything. Virgin Media O2 be texting customers to confirm what is happening.

The company added:

“Our thoughts are with those impacted by this conflict and we will continue to monitor the situation closely.”
