UPDATE: 12.35pm Vodafone says that the problem has been resolved and the company is now encouraging any user affected by the issue to restart their devices.
A spokesperson for Vodafone said:
“We had an issue affecting mobile data this morning, which is now fixed. We apologise for the inconvenience this will have caused to customers. If any customers are still struggling to get connected, we suggest briefly putting your phone onto airplane mode, or doing a restart, and then trying again.”
While the reason for the outage remains unclear, of those who reported issues, 40% reported problems with their home broadband, 36% with their mobile phone, and 22% with their mobile internet.
Vodafone UK is currently experiencing an outage across the United Kingdom today, leaving thousands of customers unable to access 4G internet or make calls. Particular hotspots appear to include London and the south of England, as well as Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow.
Twitter users have bombard the service with questions over whether the issue is being looked into.
Customers were tweeting Vodafone this morning to ask what was going on.
One said: “Anyone else having major issues with their Vodafone internet? No connection and nothing is loading. Unable to connect to either 4g/5g etc?”
A second tweeted: “Our Vodafone business mobile network is completely down! What’s happening? We need it restored ASAP please!”
Another asked: “What’s going on? Being told not connected to network then intermittently not being able to make calls.”
A fourth said: “Is there problems with the network today? I’m in Bristol and although it’s showing signal I’m unable to make calls.”
Vodafone customers will be experiencing frustration as it is only two months since the carrier last experienced a major outage.
Vodafone says it is aware of the situation:
‘We’re aware of a network update which is causing customers to have signal and connection issues,’ Vodafone spokesperson Katie wrote on Twitter.
‘We can confirm that our engineers are working to restore the service as a top priority. Sorry for any inconvenience caused while we get this fixed.’
