Huawei P40 Lite

Huawei P40 Lite available to pre-order March 2

First Huawei P40 model arrives

Huawei are due to formally announce its upcoming P40 and P40 Pro flagship smartphones on March 26 at an event in Paris. However, details of the Huawei P40 Lite have appeared on Huawei’s official page in Spain. The device is a rebranded Nova 7i that was launched a few weeks ago.

As the name implies, the P40 Lite is a cheaper, less potent version of the premium versions. While they’ve proven to be excellent phones, they fall comparatively short when it comes to performance and photography finesse.

Under the hood, there’s a 4,200 mAh battery, accompanied with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The display is a 6.4-inch IPS LCD affair with a punch-hole for the 16MP selfie camera. The Huawei P40 Lite features a 6.4-inch FHD+ punch-hole LCD display. The punch-hole is located on the left side of the display.

The phone is powered by a 7nm Kirin 810 chipset and packs 6/8GB RAM along with 128GB storage. It also packs a quad-camera system at the rear which includes a 48MP f/1.8 primary shooter, an 8MP ultra-wide angle, and 2MP depth and macro sensors.

Flip the phone over and you’ll spot the P40 Lite’s constellation of four cameras arranged in a way that resembles the iPhone 11 Pro Max. The main sensor is 48MP, and it’s accompanied by an 8MP wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro-camera for close-ups, and a 2MP depth sensor for those bokeh-filled portrait shots.

As you might expect by now, this handset doesn’t come with Google services. Instead, there’s the Huawei AppGallery.

In Spain, the Huawei P40 Lite will be available for pre-order from March 2 for €299 (£250). The device will be available in Crush Green, Sakura Pink, and Midnight Black. Customers who pre-order the device will get a free pair of FreeBuds 3 with it as well.
