Huawei Pay launches in Pakistan

Huawei has launched Huawei Pay in Pakistan, in partnership with UnionPay International and National Bank of Pakistan (NBP). Pakistan is the fourth market where Huawei Pay has been made available, following China, Russia and Hong Kong (China).

Huawei and Honor smartphone users, who are also holders of NBP UnionPay Virtual Card, can now visit the Huawei AppGallery to download and install the Huawei Wallet app, and make payments using the Huawei Pay service. 

Huawei Pay is currently available on Huawei Mate 20 Series, Huawei Mate 10 Series, Huawei Mate 9 Series, Huawei P20 Series, Huawei P10 Series and Huawei Mate RS. It is also available on Honor 10, Honor 9, Honor View10 and Honor 8 Pro.

Huawei Pay users can now make payments with their Huawei or Honor smartphones. The service can replace a credit or debit card. Huawei Pay users should add their NBP bank cards to the Huawei Wallet and pay by scanning the in-store UnionPay QR code.

High-end smartphone users will also have access to a tap-to-pay function soon, when the merchants are ready to accept contactless payments.

Back in August 2016, Huawei and UnionPay jointly launched Huawei Pay service for the Chinese market. In January 2018, Huawei signed a global cooperation agreement with UnionPay in Shenzhen. The two parties jointly agreed to promote Huawei Pay globalization and accelerate overseas implementation.
