Huawei unveils its own Credit Card – ‘Huawei Card’

Apple has one so Huawei needs one

Huawei has unveiled its own credit card called the Huawei Card. Huawei Card will be released in both physical and virtual embodiment, with the virtual version of the card used via Huawei Pay. The physical Huawei Card will support contactless payments.

Backed by Chinese finance giant UnionPay, the card supports paying by NFC and QR codes, China’s favourite payment method. To ease privacy concerns, Huawei says biometric data linked to the card will not be stored in its cloud servers.

There will be an annual fee for the Huawei Card but the first year will be waived for early adopters. To further drive signups, card users who make a required amount of transactions will have the annual fee for the 2nd year waived, too.

That’s in addition to various cashback offers and in-app promos for payments made with the card.
