TAG Heuer officially unveils Connected SmartWatch

TAG Heuer has officially unveiled the Connected, it’s first Android Wear-powered smartwatch. The watch was developed in partnership between Intel and Google, and is constructed out of titanium.

Inspired by the TAG Heuer Carrera, this watch includes a titanium case and signature strap in seven colors. In addition, its high-resolution, transflective sapphire glass display makes it easy to check the time and other important info—even in the bright sun.

“No innovation no future. It is not enough to have tradition,” said TAG Heuer CEO Jean-Claude Biver this morning at the unveiling of the company’s new Connected Watch in New York.

“Today is the marriage of watch valley and silicon valley. The Swiss watch industry is connected to the future.”

Inside the Connected watch features an Intel 1.6GHz dual-core processor, 4GB of internal storage, Bluetooth LE, Wi-Fi, and a number of sensors, such as fitness tracker and directional wind and weather monitoring. The Connected watch is also IP67 certified splash-proof water resistant. As for battery life, TAG states the 410mAh battery will give you a minimum 25 hours battery life.

The Connected has a 46mm face with a sapphire crystal touchscreen. It also features an IP67 water resistance rating. Customers will be able to choose from seven colorful textured rubber watch straps.

If you shop online, you’ll only be able to purchase the black strap. The blue, red, white, yellow, green, and orange straps are only available in stores.

The Connected watch works with Android smartphones running Android 4.3 and higher and also iPhones on iOS 8.2+.

The TAG Heuer Connected will go on sale in Europe on November 12, and the company is offering the watch in the US starting at noon on November 9. The Connected retails for £1,100 ( $1,500 USD ).
