BlackBerry have teamed up with Talent Corporation Malaysia Bhd (TalentCorp) to launch the CyberNext Programme, a national initiative aimed at strengthening cybersecurity capabilities among Malaysian students and educators.
In a statement on Wednesday, the companies outlined that the CyberNext Programme will be delivered in two six-month phases over the span of one year — designed to complement existing tertiary education with structured, hands-on training that progresses from foundational to intermediate levels.
The curriculum focuses on practical skills, role-based instruction and internationally recognised professional certifications.
The programme seeks to address the growing cybersecurity skills gap in Malaysia. By equipping participants with job-ready expertise and enhancing university-industry collaboration, the initiative aims to bolster the country’s broader cybersecurity ecosystem.
Coinciding with the first anniversary of the Malaysia Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence (CCoE), BlackBerry and TalentCorp announced that, with the support of training partners ISC2 and CompTIA, they will offer free cybersecurity training to 1,000 students and 250 lecturers.
The training will be conducted at the CCoE facility starting this July.
“We are proud to join forces with TalentCorp to empower Malaysia’s next generation of cyber defenders to be better prepared for tomorrow’s threats,” said BlackBerry training manager at the cybersecurity centre of excellence Jaclyn Sim.
