Earlier this month, TCL unveiled the new BlackBerry Motion at Gitex in Dubai, the second new device launched by the Chinese company since acquiring rights to the BlackBerry smartphone brand last year.
This all-new BlackBerry smartphone continues the heritage of offering customers the best in reliability, productivity, privacy and security. BlackBerry Motion is also the first BlackBerry smartphone to offer IP67 water and dust resistance, a new anti-scratch display technology, and the largest battery ever in a BlackBerry.
The BlackBerry Motion ia an all touchscreen device featuring a 5.5-inch full HD display, 4GB RAM and a 4,000mAh battery with QuickCharge 3.0 support and is rated IP67 for dust and water resistance.
In addition to the IP67 water and dust resistant rating and the new 5.5-inch Full-HD Premium Anti-Scratch Display, the BlackBerry Motion features a hardened aluminum frame and soft-grip textured back to provide greater durability and protection for real life everyday use.
Alain Lejeune, Global General Manager for BlackBerry Mobile said,
“The launch of BlackBerry Motion allows us to further diversify our product offering, delivering new experiences while remaining steadfast with the privacy, reliability and productivity that have made BlackBerry so iconic over the years,”
“While the initial launch of our newest BlackBerry smartphone will be limited, this is an exciting addition to our growing BlackBerry smartphone portfolio, setting a strong foundation for further portfolio and market growth in the years to come.”
Alex Thurber, SVP and GM of Mobility Solutions, BlackBerry said,
“Once again TCL Communication has delivered on their promise, to produce a true BlackBerry device that will meet and exceed expectations,”
“We’re confident that customers, who are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of security and productivity on their smart phones, are going to enjoy the new BlackBerry Motion.”
In addition to the IP67 water and dust resistant rating and the new 5.5-inch Full-HD Premium Anti-Scratch Display, the sleek purposeful-designed BlackBerry Motion features a hardened aluminum frame and soft-grip textured back to provide greater durability and protection for real life everyday use.
It also comes with the largest battery ever in a BlackBerry smartphone (4,000mAh), offering 32+ hours of mixed use.. When a charge is required, Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 enables up to a 50 percent charge in roughly 40 minutes using a USB Type-C charger. Powered by Android 7.1 Nougat, this all-new BlackBerry smartphone gives customers access to the entire Google Play™ store and will receive monthly Andoid security updates. It will be upgraded to Android Oreo in the new year,
Like the BlackBerry KEYone, the BlackBerry Motion is designed with security built-in right from the start. This includes a hardened operating system and BlackBerry Limited’s proprietary technique for establishing a hardware root of trust and adding security keys to the processor. The BlackBerry Motion also comes with all the signature BlackBerry experiences that bring an unmatched level of efficiency to everything a customer does on the phone like BlackBerry Hub, BlackBerry Calendar, DTEK by BlackBerry and BlackBerry Boost charging.
New to this latest BlackBerry Smartphone is a personal Locker. With Locker, customers can store documents and photos to an internal storage area that requires the device owner’s PIN code or fingerprint to access. Locker Mode allows customers to capture images and directly save those photos to the internal storage area, so they are not automatically saved to a cloud.
Customers can also experience an improved customizable Convenience Key that brings even greater functionality and context to the quick-access physical key – unique to BlackBerry smartphones. This feature now includes four customizable profiles for Home, Car, Office and User, allowing for three different shortcut options that can be triggered by a home WiFi network, in-car Bluetooth, meetings that are synced to BlackBerry Hub or apps that are most commonly used. There is also a fingerprint sensor on the front of the device, which a doubles as a physical home button for added ease of use.
BlackBerry Motion is available for pre-order from Carphone Warehouse starting today, for an SRP of £399. In November, the product will also be available from Selfridges, John Lewis, Dixons Travel, Currys PC World, Amazon, Very, Littlewoods, Rapid Meta and other retailers.
