Social networking site Slenky is taking an innovative, digital approach to addressing young people in Britain’s concerns about money, unemployment, lack of opportunities and cuts to education.
Slenky is tackling this head on by giving 13-24-year olds from around the UK unique and incredible ‘shots’ by working with companies and individuals to open up opportunities to more young people who might otherwise struggle to progress with their careers and their lives.
Slenky loves to team up with corporate brands. For the second year running Slenky has teamed up with Sony Mobile on a campaign called Take Your Shot. Whether you are interested in music, fashion, art, tech, starting an enterprise or sport, this project opens doors for a set of slenky community members – who would not have had access otherwise – to meet influential figures, attend exclusive events and experience new technology first.
From having a one-to-one meeting with singer Emeli Sande’s publishing manager to attending and blogging at V Festival, the young people taking part are able to gain new skills and endorsements through experiential learning with a variety of exclusive ‘shots’.
Slenky is the platform that gives youths their shot! It effectively opens doors and gives young people access to ‘shots’ they would not have otherwise had access to. It works with local & national governments, brands, and sporting clubs primarily to provide all the chances they have onto one platform that young people have access to. Its set to revolutionise the access that young people have to the opportunities that are available to them.
Slenky partners with corporate brands and educational institutions to build content for their community of young people to engage with. The content can be anything from a competition to win media exposure or a chance to meet a personal hero, or information about internships and educational opportunities.
Slenky is an incredible platform, which allows youths the freedom to realise their potential, kick start ideas, showcase creative concepts and boost their skills by participating in actual activities and keeping a log of that activity on their profile area to share with friends and future employers. They also help source apprenticeships, auditions, internships, jobs, work placements, training and volunteering opportunities. So if you are young and aspiring to get connected the question is, are you on Slenky?
With a successful mobile app version of their platform available for you to use as well, their amazing work hasn’t gone unnoticed. Out of 100s of entrants from over 30 different countries, their Slenky + Sony Take Your Shot campaign has been shortlisted in the Country Smarties category at the prestigious Mobile Marketing Association Awards (MMA). They are up against global giants Google and Selfridges, like a modern interpretation of David and Goliath, they sit comfortably alongside them defining the future of mobile technology. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on November 10, 2014 in London.[signoff predefined=”Enjoy this?” icon=”icon-users”][/signoff]
