O2 launches unlimited data plans

O2 has joined the rest of the UK’s main carriers and launched unlimited data plans of its own. These start from £33 per month on an 18-month SIM-only plan, or can be had for £35 per month on a 12-month SIM plan and with variable pricing alongside select handsets.

O2’s 5G network doesn’t launch until October and it’s only offering 4G plans for now, but if you pick up a 5G phone you’ll be able to switch to a 5G plan at launch, and O2 has confirmed that these will also be offered with unlimited data.

Unlimited data on O2 is also available as part of its Family Plan, along with O2 Open and O2 Student plans, potentially letting you save some money.

Nina Bibby, Chief Marketing Officer, O2, said:

“We’re excited to be unveiling our Unlimited Data plans today. Now there’s no limit to what you can do on O2. As the customer champion, O2’s mobile plans have always been designed to put customers in control, and with the option of unlimited data on our award winning network, we are now providing our customers with the ultimate choice.”

Customers on O2’s Custom Plans who want to upgrade early from another handset need only pay off the remaining balance of their device plan to stay bang-up-to-date.
