BlackBerry Priv NOT Exclusive to AT&T in U.S. from November 6

UPDATE: After quiet a bit of furore back and forth, BlackBerry have clarified that AT&T do not have any exclusivity on the BlackBerry Priv in the U.S. and AT& T have now updated the Priv web page on their web site and removed the exclusivity sentence that they had originally (pictured above).

This has now been replaced with

  • Available first from AT&T in the U.S.

AT&T have grabbed the BlackBerry Priv as an exclusive in the U.S. and the device will be available starting November 6th.

AT&T will be the first U.S. carrier to offer BlackBerry’s first Android smartphone, PRIV by BlackBerry. PRIV will be available in retail stores nationwide and online at www.att.com on Friday, Nov. 6.

BlackBerry lovers will get the features they’ve come to expect with the full ecosystem of Android. Android users will also gain enhanced privacy and productivity from BlackBerry on their familiar OS and app experience.

PRIV brings the best of BlackBerry’s prized features to Android with access to over one million Android apps. Its slim design includes a 5.4-inch dual-curved Corning Gorilla Glass 4 screen. PRIV has BlackBerry’s legendary battery life and the exclusive new DTEK warning system app. You can easily monitor the security level of your phone and know what apps’ access your microphone, location, camera and other personal information. Be confident that your privacy is under control and protecting you from malware and malicious tampering.

Additional Key Features:

“You can finally have everything you loved about BlackBerry with the capabilities of Android OS. This smartphone is a powerhouse with sleek design, seamless productivity, and advanced security features on the nation’s most reliable 4G LTE network,” said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Device Marketing and Developer Services, AT&T Mobility.

While we know that here in the UK, Carphone Warehouse snagged a two month in-store exclusive on the Priv, we are not aware how long the AT&T exclusivity period lasts or whether it applies to online, in-store or both.
