The rumours have abated slightly regarding BlackBerry’s upcoming Android smartphone. However, it is expected that an announcement will come sooner rather than later from BlackBerry.
If BlackBerry’s upcoming Q2 Fiscal 2016 results are not that good, it is expected that they just might announce the BlackBerry Venice just prior to the result, in order to take the sting off a bad quarter.
An indicator that an announcement just may be forthcoming shortly is that Expansys in the U.S. now have a pre-order page online.
Interestingly, they refer to the release name as the BlackBerry Venice and also confirm that the Venice is an Android phone.
Please note that information contained below is speculative and may change significantly prior to release.
Blackberry’s first foray into the Android world is perhaps the smartphone both Android and Blackberry fans have been hoping for years. Combining Blackberry’s keyboards and engineering prowess together with a rich and robust Android app ecosystem, the Blackberry Venice promises to be the first flagship QWERTY keyboard device for Android in years.
Rumored Specs:
Snapdragon 808 Processor
5.4″ Curved Glass Screen
Slideout QWERTY Keyboard
3GB RAM
18MP Camera
There are no prices or release dates and it looks like this may just be a placement page. The fact that it is there though is an indicator that pre-order must be imminent.
