Microsoft launches Free Skype Meetings for Small U.S. businesses

Microsoft has announced the launch of Skype Meetings, a new and free video and audio chat tool for small businesses in the United States that don’t have an Office 365 subscription.

Skype Meetings is available to everyone without an Office 365 subscription in the U.S. who uses a business email address.

It requires a web browser, microphone and camera. Once users sign up, they can hold video and audio chats in Skype Meetings for up to 10 people in the first 60 days, and after that the free service limits the number of folks in the chat to 3 participants.

If you have an Office 365 business subscription that includes Skype for Business, then you already have richer online meetings capabilities, such as the ability to conduct large group meetings for up to 250 people and the ability to IM anyone in your organization at any time—not just during meetings.

In addition, Skype for Business is integrated with other Office 365 apps to enable you to do things like schedule a Skype meeting from your Outlook calendar, see your colleagues’ presence, and initiate an IM or start an audio or video conversation within apps like Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.

You can start a free meeting today here.
