ASUS has unveiled its latest ZenFone 2 smartphone at CES 2015 today. ASUS said the phone has a 72-percent screen-to-body ratio, which means there’s more display on the body and fewer bezels. It also has a full 1080p IPS screen, PixelMaster technology that improves the shots snapped with its 13-megapixel camera and allows you to take better low-light photos that are up to 400 percent brighter than previous generations. ASUS Creative Studio also now includes mini-movie for quickly recording and sharing movies on social networks.
The phone is powered by a 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 processor that ASUS says is up to 3.1 times faster than some quad core competitors. GPU performance is about 8.1 times faster, ASUS said, noting that it also supports OpenGL 3.0.
It also features 4GB of RAM, which makes it the first smartphone available to consumers to sport that spec.
There’s a 13 megapixel rear camera and it is equipped with the PixelMaster technology, which according the company allows you to take better low light photographs that are up to 400% brighter than what the previous generation was capable of capturing. The 5 megapixel front facing shooter completes the camera department.
In terms of operating system, the ZenFone 2 runs with Google’s latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, albeit with the Asus ZenUI skin overlaid.
ASUS ZenFone 2 also comes with the home-backed Creative Studio, which now includes mini-movie for quickly recording and sharing movies among your friends on social networks.
The ZenFone 2 also features a Kids Mode that gives parents control over the apps, incoming calls and times that kids can use the device.
The 3,000mAh battery provides juice for the smartphone and it is equipped with fast charging technology, which according the company recharges up to 60% in about 39 minutes.
ASUS ZenFone 2 will be available in Osmium Black, Sheer Gold, Glacier Gray, Glamor Red and Ceramic White color options. The smartphone will be up for grabs in March and will cost you about $199.
The company’s chairman also announced that they are now shipping over 1.5 million ZenFone smartphones a month.
