Expanding Versatile Mapping and Location Services for the Award Winning Smart Glasses
Vuzix Corporation has announced that it has signed a licensing agreement with HERE, a Nokia company and leader in mapping, navigation and location experiences, to incorporate maps and location platform services from HERE as the primary mapping services in Vuzix M100 Smart Glasses.
On the M100 Smart Glasses, HERE provides a versatile mapping and location services engine, which offers both traditional 2-D and first person heads up display capability. This empowers application developers to create advanced and fully integrated mapping in their M100 offerings. HERE enabled Apps on the M100 may provide a complete stand-alone experience, including the ability to store map data locally on the device and use it offline for navigation, directions and search.
The Vuzix-HERE location offering includes among other features:
- Ability to overlay application customized data onto HERE base map, providing a high quality customized map user experience.
- Offline Navigation and map search.
- Turn-by-turn drive or walk guidance without an internet connection for 118 countries.
- Detailed maps for download to use offline with your M100 Smart Glasses.
- Integration with Bluetooth beacons and other short-range location devices in addition to GPS and network localization for high accuracy, high resolution localized mapping.
- Public transport maps and directions for more than 800 cities in more than 40 countries available without an internet connection and live traffic information for more than 40 countries.
