Taking advantage of the growing interest in eSIM and iSIM technology, Nokia has launched its new iSIM Secure Connect platform, which has been designed to help CSPs and enterprises to deliver new 5G mobile and IoT services, and securely manage machine-to-machine (M2M) and consumer device subscriptions.
Uninett
Nokia will provide Norway’s national research and education network, Uninett, with high capacity optical network solutions for expansion of the fibre infrastructure in northern Norway. The need for this expansion is mainly driven by Eiscat Scientific Association’s extreme capacity needs (8 Tbit/s) for ionosphere and upper atmosphere 3D research in the Northern region.

Nokia has opened its first Open RAN (O-RAN) Collaboration and Testing Centre at its offices in Dallas, Texas. The centre is designed to support the development of partnerships among O-RAN vendors that will help with the verification, introduction, and launch of O-RAN compliant solutions to market.

Nokia is to collaborate with HMD Global using Nokia’s Worldwide IoT Network Grid (WING) to enable seamless global IoT connectivity for HMD’s IoT solution for enterprises. Nokia has been chosen by Allo, an Information and Communications Technology service provider in Malaysia, to deploy a gigabit fibre network in the states of Melaka, Johor, Negeri Sembilan and East Coast of Malaysia. The deployment, which includes Nokia’s Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) solution and Access Management System, will be completed by end of Q2 2021 covering nearly 150,000 homepasses.

HMD Global has announced collaborations with three leading wireless providers in North America – Cricket Wireless and Verizon in the United States and Rogers in Canada. HMD Global is also expanding its selection of Nokia smartphones on Android with the launch of two wireless provider-specific devices coming to the United States this month and another coming to Rogers subsidiary brand, chatr, in Canada very soon.

Nokia is reviving the iconic 8110 from the film in the form of a 4G feature phone. The 8110 4G features the curved banana body from two decades ago, but it’s dropped the antenna and is also a fair bit smaller.
