BlackBerry has announced that Priv by BlackBerry, the first-ever BlackBerry smartphone powered by Android, is now available for pre-order in Hong Kong through local carriers and major chain stores.
PRIV combines the best of BlackBerry’s productivity, security and privacy features with the world of Google Play store apps.
The BlackBerry Priv features a 5.4-inch screen with dual curved edges and a 1440 x 2560 resolution. That works out to a pixel density of 441ppi.
A Snapdragon 808 chipset is under the hood, carrying an octa-core 1.8GHz CPU and the Adreno 418 GPU. 3GB of RAM is inside, with 32GB of native storage. A 2TB capacity microSD slot is available for those requiring additional memory.
The 18MP Schneider-Kreuznach camera on back includes OIS, and there is a 5MP front-facing camera for taking selfies and handling video chats.

A 3410mAh battery keeps the generator humming, and Android 5.1 is pre-installed. The Priv comes with security system DTEK, a physical QWERTY keyboard, and a virtual keyboard as well.

Priv is available for pre-order for HKD 6,488 (approx £541 / $837 USD / $1096 CAD) and is currently available for pre-order through csl. and 1O1O under CSL Mobile, China Mobile Hong Kong, SmarTone Mobile Communications and 3 Hong Kong, as well as authorized resellers including Broadway Photo Supply, Chung Yuen Electrical, Fortress, Hong Kong Suning and Nuance-Watson (HK) and BlackBerry’s distributor Qool International.
