Motorola Moto 360 smartwatch to cost $249

The Motorola Moto 360 smartwatch will cost $249 (roughly £150), according to information prematurely published by US retailer Best Buy and subsequently removed.

For comparison, the LG G Watch costs $229 and the Samsung Gear Live is priced at $199; both of these watches also run Google’s Android Wear operating system.

The Moto 360 is the Android Wear smartwatch which is gaining a lot more attention due to its attractive design and round screen.

The Moto 360 will feature a heart rate monitor and pedometer to track your health and fitness; it is waterproof to a depth of 3.3 feet and can be submerged for up to 30 minutes.

There will also be an ambient light sensor to automatically adjust screen brightness – a feature sorely missing from smartwatches like the Samsung Gear 2 and LG G Watch. Inside there is 512MB of RAM and a TI processor, plus Bluetooth and wireless charging.

A round screen will help make the Moto 360 look more like a traditional watch than its smart rivals, but at 45mm across and 10mm deep, the Motorola is a very large watch. Motorola is holding a press event in Chicago on 4 September, where it is expected to launch the Moto 360, as well as announce updates to the Moto G and Moto X smartphones.
