Samsung software update will limit UK Galaxy Note7 battery charge to 30%

On October 10, Samsung took the sensible decision to stop sales and shipments of Galaxy Note7 devices as part of their commitment to customer safety.

The company asked everyone with a Galaxy Note7 to back up their data, switch off their device and return it.  However, there are still some stubborn users who are holding on to their Note7 devices, for whatever reason.

Similar to what Samsung is doing in the United States, in a bid to further dissuade customers from using the phone, Samsung has announced that it will roll out a software update to all Note 7 devices in the UK that will limit the battery charge to 30%.

The update will begin to roll on December 15th.

“As part of our absolute focus on customer safety, from 15th December, all Galaxy Note7 devices will receive a new battery software update that will limit the maximum charging capacity to 30 percent. This software update is designed to further minimise customer risk and reinforce to customers to replace their device through the Galaxy Note7 Replacement Programme as soon as possible.”
