Teletrac, a GPS fleet tracking and telematics software provider for over 22,000 companies worldwide, has announced it is partnering with Samsung Electronics America to expand its fleet management offerings to the Android platform on Samsung’s Galaxy Tab devices.
Earlier this year, Teletrac chose Samsung’s Galaxy Tab and the Android operating system to host its Drive app, a comprehensive suite of applications for commercial vehicle operators. The app suite is now available on the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab. Teletrac Drive for Android allows users to access multiple app-based functions, such as two-way messaging, GPS navigation and compliance tools. The app’s optional compliance feature includes electronic driver vehicle inspection reports and Department of Transportation (DOT)-mandated electronic driver logs (driver e-logs) that meet hours of service regulations.
“Android has become the de facto standard when it comes to apps development…the tablet was a critical component to delivering our vision of the next generation logistics management platform,” said Sid Nair, Director of Product Management, Teletrac.
Customers using the Samsung Galaxy Tab have embraced the new user experience that Teletrac Drive offers. Teletrac predicts more than 30% of its customer base will be migrating to the Galaxy tablet by 2015. One Teletrac customer who has adopted the new Samsung and Teletrac integration, logistics firm A.N. Webber, noted it takes them less time to download driver e-logs, access crucial reports and receive updates on delivery routes and locations.
“The trucking business is highly competitive, and we are always looking for ways to improve driver productivity and satisfaction,” said Rob Koch, Vice President of Operations, A.N. Webber.
Samsung’s Galaxy Tab has proven to be a successful component to Teletrac’s strategy of creating a faster and more reliable fleet management offering to its customers.
“Teletrac Drive in combination with the Galaxy Tab provides logistics firms with a powerful tool for enhancing productivity and communications,” said Jennifer Langan, director of mobility solutions at Samsung’s Enterprise Business Division.
Samsung routinely selects businesses for its customer profiles that show unique use cases of its products. This month, Samsung chose Teletrac for an innovation case study highlighting the successful integration of the Drive app with Galaxy tablets. The case study illustrates how Teletrac has built a more robust, flexible GPS fleet tracking logistics platform for its customers and their drivers on an Android platform.
