Apple releases iOS 8.4.1

Apple has released what is likely to be the last version of iOS 8.4 before it rolls out iOS 9 sometime next month.

While there are few user-facing improvements, it appears all of iOS 8.4.1’s changes involve Apple Music and Beats 1.

Some of these fixes are:

  • Resolves issues that could prevent turning on iCloud Music Library
  • Resolves an issue that hides added music because Apple Music was set to show offline music only
  • Provides a way to add songs to a new playlist if there aren’t any playlists to choose from
  • Resolves an issue that may show different artwork for an album on other devices
  • Fixes an issue where tapping Love doesn’t work as expected while listening to Beats 1

Much of the list involves syncing, iCloud Music Library, and offline music. Another major issue resolved has been affecting much of the team here: the inability to “love” a track while listening to Beats 1.

Doing so influences Apple Music’s “For You” recommendation algorithm.
