Free iPad App Makes Data Analytics Fun and Accessible to More People
Tableau Software today announced Vizable, an entirely new mobile application designed to help people see and understand data with just an iPad. Tableau Vice President of Mobile and Strategic Growth, Dave Story, unveiled the app at the 2015 Tableau Conference in Las Vegas.
Data exploration has gone mobile with the launch of the first ever data visualisation app that puts analytics at your fingertips for the first time. Vizable, from data analytics pioneer Tableau, gives users sophisticated analytics capabilities by pinching, swiping, and dragging and has been designed to allow anyone to see and understand their data on an iPad. Whether a small business owner wanting to explore takings for that day, or a Star Wars buff wanting to know which coloured light sabres are most lethal, the free app makes it easy for people to instantly visualise and process information locked in excel spreadsheets.
With Vizable, Tableau brings fun and approachable data analysis to even more people. The free iPad app makes it possible to explore data by using gestures such as pinching, swiping and dragging, allowing people to sculpt data into visualizations in seconds.
Tableau has already put Vizable in the hands of a number of businesses and organizations who previously had data and questions, but no easy tool to answer those questions. They now find insights to drive and improve their business, even while they’re on the go.
“We started with a food truck, so the very nature of our business is mobile,” said Roz Edison, owner of Marination, a Hawaiian-Korean fusion cuisine business with one food truck and three restaurants in Seattle.
“Since we’ve started using Vizable, if someone asks me how Marination is doing this week, I can pull out my iPad, start swiping and dragging my cash register data, and boom! It’s that easy.”
Co-founded by a three time Oscar winner for his animations on Toy Story and Avatar, Tableau is today used by more than 32,000 organisations from the NHS and Barclays through to Unilever, Leicestershire County Council and the United Nations to see and understand their data.
“There is no great app to see and understand a spreadsheet visually, using only a tablet,” said Story.

Vizable is ideal for people with personal or business data they want to analyze. The first version works with data in CSV files and Excel (xls or xlsx) files. Visualizations created in Vizable can be shared with friends and colleagues through email, instant message, or social media.
Vizable is currently available worldwide in the Apple iTunes store in English.
