BlackBerry opens new European Headquarters in Maidenhead

BlackBerry has today moved into its new European headquarters at the Pearce Building in Maidenhead town centre, occupying three floors.

Back in June of this year, BlackBerry selected The Pearce Building in Maidenhead in a record rent deal for the Thames Valley.

Florian Bienvenu, senior vice president, enterprise sales EMEA at BlackBerry, said:

“We are excited about the move and delighted that we will have our European operations in Maidenhead. Over the years BlackBerry has remained committed to the UK, not just as a key market globally but also as our gateway to Europe, and Maidenhead is offering us an excellent business environment.”

The Pearce Building comprises 50,000 sq ft arranged over eight floors. Blackberry has leased 16,500 sq ft on the ground, fifth and sixth floors for £37.50 sq ft for a 10-year lease from July this year.

Cllr Simon Dudley, leader of Maidenhead council said:

“We are delighted to welcome BlackBerry to Maidenhead.

“Maidenhead is on the move and BlackBerry’s arrival is a great step forward in our vision of achieving the dynamic future the town deserves as we build a borough for everyone.”

The deal with Blackberry is one of the highest headline rents in the Thames Valley ever, and is a very significant deal for the area.

Cllr Jack Rankin, cabinet member for economic development and property, added:

“This is an important milestone for Maidenhead and the council members and officers who worked with BlackBerry to successfully broker the deal.

“BlackBerry is the latest ‘big name’ to come to town, joining Maersk, Adobe 3, Tesla and Alnylam as well as the retailers opening in Maidenhead – H&M, Smiggle, Pandora and Paperchase.”
