BlackBerry has released an update to their BlackBerry Privacy Shade app for Android, bringing a new Redactor mode, allowing you to take a screenshot anywhere on your device and block sensitive content. Users can redact content with horizontal swipes, rectangles and circles, share their redacted content seamlessly with social media and email applications, as well as switch quickly between Redactor mode and Privacy Shade mode.
Twitter has identified a bug that stored users passwords unmasked in an internal log. While the company has already fixed the bug, and their own investigation shows no indication of breach or misuse by anyone, the company is advising all users to change their passwords.
BlackBerry has rolled out an update to BBM Enterprise for BlackBerry 10 (yes BB10). BBM Enterprise for BlackBerry 10 v20.3.0.5 doesn't bring any new features and brings fixes to customer issues. BBM Enterprise allows employees to take advantage of the speed, reliability and privacy of BBM for faster communication.
Telegram
A Russian court in Moscow court has banned the popular Telegram messaging app. The court ruling on Friday came after Telegram refused to give Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) encryption keys that would grant access to user messaging data.
Outlook for Android
Microsoft has released another Outlook for Android update that brings the addition of Calendar attachments, allowing Outlook users to view them on their Android devices. You can view embedded images and open these attachments directly from the event details in the Outlook app.
BBMoji
Just last week, MomentCam Hong Kong released BBMoji for Android, an app allowing users to create customised emojis and "expressive and funny stickers of yourself" and your friends on BBM. The iOS version is now available for for iOS.
BBM for iPhone
Creative Media Works has released the latest update to BBM for iPhone, which brings the ability to share videos in groups and add albums to your profile. In addition, users can now easily share content with more people with the new contact multi-picker.
Facebook has implemented video chatting in Messenger Lite, a slimmed down version of Messenger for Android that offers the core features of the app while giving everyone the opportunity to stay connected to their friends and family, intended for people with older Android devices and/or slower Internet connections.
BBMoji
MomentCam Hong Kong has released BBMoji, an app allowing users to create customised emojis and "expressive and funny stickers of yourself" and your friends on BBM. Interestingly, BBMoji appears to be a companion app for the consumer version of BBM, as the app states that in order to use it, you need to have have the latest version of BBM installed.
Earlier in the year, Google announced that it would be merging its Android Pay and Google Wallet services under one new umbrella called "Google Pay." A little more than a month later, the Google Pay app is now rolling out to users via an update on the Play Store. The initial launch does not bring anything new to the table and is basically the beginning of the rebrand.
Messenger Kids
Facebook Messenger Kids, a controversial new messenger aimed at children is now available on Android. This app is specifically designed for children between the ages of 6 through 12, since you can be age 13 and sign up for a normal Facebook account.
BBM for iPhone
Creative Media Works has announced the latest update to BBM for iPhone, which brings the ability to send images or videos without compression, voice notes & large messages support in groups, new image and video viewer in groups and iPhone X support.
eBay PayPal
Back in 2015, BlackBerry and PayPal teamed up to introduce PayPal payments within BBM. PayPal has now informed users via email that the ability to send money with PayPal using BBM has been discontinued as of February 6, 2018.
