Pod launches Pod Rewards for Home EV charging

Pod Rewards is a new programme that pays customers cash rewards for smart charging their vehicles at home.

Pod, an electric charging provider, is launching a new scheme that could give EV owners £100 a year in return for simply charging their cars at home.

Pod Rewards is a new programme that pays customers cash rewards for smart charging their vehicles at home.

By plugging in, setting a target charge and letting Pod do the rest, customers can earn up to £100 a year in cash rewards while maintaining all the benefits of home EV charging.

Any Pod customer on a single rate or two rate domestic electricity tariff can sign up to the programme and will continue to benefit from off-peak electricity rates and wake up to a charged car.

Rewards are earned regardless of energy supplier and can be withdrawn once customers reach a £10 balance. Pod Rewards is managed simply via the Pod Home app, which existing customers will be invited to download, then use to sign into their account and sign up to the programme.

The launch builds on Pod’s independent smart charging trials, which it said had already delivered more than £330,000 in rewards to customers through a combination of cash and vouchers.

Pod is now scaling its smart charging capabilities across its existing customer base and extending access to rewards beyond early trials and subscribers to its all-inclusive Pod Drive charging service.

Available to thousands more EV drivers across the UK, Pod could pay out more than £1m in rewards by the end of the year, it claimed.

Smart charging is underpinned by an ability to ‘flex’ charging during long-dwell periods when an EV is plugged in. Pod said this offered it the opportunity to adjust charging windows to times when grid demand is lower – typically overnight – and supply of renewable energy is higher, allowing it to generate ‘flex’ revenue from the Grid that can be passed back to customers in the form of cash rewards.

In late 2025 a rule change was passed that eased the eligibility criteria for households to participate in smart charging. It meant that EV chargers can now ‘flex’ through the meter in the charger, rather than the household’s smart meter, enabling all Pod’s existing customers to benefit from flexible charging.

Pod is actively encouraging its existing customers to opt into Pod Rewards, while also welcoming new Pod Drive subscribers to earn rewards from smart charging. In the coming months, Pod will roll out the option for future customers to buy a charger outright and earn rewards from day one too.

Melanie Lane, CEO at Pod, said:

“Pod Rewards redefines the charging experience for our home customers and rewards them for choosing to charge with Pod, without compromising on ease and simplicity. As we continue to pioneer in the home EV charging space, we’re making everyday electric mobility more affordable than ever before, for thousands of drivers across the UK.”

Pod said the launch supported the Department for Transport’s new Get That Electric Feeling campaign, aimed at showcasing the benefits available to drivers making the switch to an EV.
