BT and Transatel renew UK partnership to enable 5G for MVNOs

Transatel will have enhanced access to EE’s coverage footprint.

Transatel and BT Wholesale have extended their MVNO agreement to enable 5G for MVNOs in the UK. Transatel is a technical sub-contractor that tends to sit in the middle between primary MNOs and virtual (MVNO) operators.

That includes utility companies (Utilita, Ecotalk), community-based MVNOs (China Telecom Europe), B2B reseller MVNOs (Abzorb), and retail MVNO brands (Plusnet, The Phone Co-op). Transatel’s partnership with BT Wholesale has also helped it expand beyond traditional MVNOs to serve charitable organisations, local providers, food distributors and discounters.

Alex Tempest, Managing Director BT Wholesale, commented:

“For over 12 years, we have proven a successful relationship with Transatel, and as we firmly enter a period of data-driven business outcomes, we are very pleased to support Transatel with superior voice and data solutions, from the UK’s number one network. As the largest wholesale provider of telecommunications services in Europe, BT values working with Transatel and its customers to grow our wholesale business.”

With the agreement in place, Transatel will have enhanced access to EE’s coverage footprint.

Jacques Bonifay, Transatel’s CEO, added:

“Our clients enjoy a true competitive advantage through our relationship with the UK’s best network. It’s the strongest foundation for building value-added services such as cutting-edge online charging systems, real-time CDRs, and Fixed-Mobile Convergence. And it’s a guarantee of quality and reliability that our clients can use to reduce churn.”
