Vodafone Gigafast Full Fibre Broadband comes to Cambridge

Vodafone UK has launched its Gigafast Full Fibre Broadband service in Cambridge, bringing residents and small businesses access to speeds of up to 900 Mbps.

The service with Cityfibre  is being made available to 4,500 premises during Q1 2010, and is already live in Chesterton and Kings Hedges. It will be rolled out to more places across the city as CityFibre deploys its full-fibre network in Cambridge over the next two years.

“The introduction of full fibre broadband to Cambridge provides residents, students and the growing number of technology start-ups with ultra-fast and reliable digital connectivity.

We are working with our infrastructure partner, CityFibre, to connect up homes across the city with the aim to offer more than 4,500 households access to the service within the first three months of 2020.”

Max Taylor, Vodafone UK’s Consumer Director

The development means that Cambridge now joins Aberdeen, Bournemouth, Coventry, Huddersfield, Milton Keynes, Peterborough and Stirling as some of the first Phase One cities where Cityfibre’s new FTTH network has gone live for customers.

“Today’s announcement follows a £20m investment from CityFibre to bring a gigabit-capable full fibre network to Cambridge. We are making the city one of the best-connected places in the country.

We’ve made huge progress so far, it is tremendous to see the first homes and businesses now reaping the benefits of full fibre and seeing first-hand the difference it can make to their lives.”

Charles Kitchin, CityFibre’s City Manager for Cambridge

Customers can choose from three Vodafone Gigafast Full Fibre Broadband packages – 100, 500 or 900 Mbps – with prices from GBP 28 per month.
