Apple iOS 12.1.4 brings Group FaceTime Fix

Apple has released iOS 12.1.4 for iPhone and iPad bringing a fix for the widely publicised Group FaceTime bug that was revealed early last week.

In short, the bug allowed anyone to eavesdrop on your iPhone’s microphone by initiating a FaceTime call, and video could even be obtained (without the receiver’s permission) via the exploit.

Apple initially disabled Group FaceTime on its servers to immediately shutdown the exploit, and last Friday it instituted a server-side fix for the problem. The release of iOS 12.1.4 now brings the fix to the consumer side of iPhones and iPads.

While the update follows on from iOS 12.1.3, the previous public version of the mobile operating system, it doesn’t seem that there are any other changes made to the software, aside from the FaceTime fix.

Devices not updated with the update will not be allowed to access Group FaceTime.

The update is available through iTunes, or as an over-the-air update in the iOS Settings app.
