BlackBerry Mobile announced the Android 8.0 Oreo beta update for select users last month and starting today (August 15), the company is finally starting to push the Android 8.0 Stable update to BlackBerry KEYone owners.
While Google’s latest Android Pie OS is now officially available and users are waiting the update for their smartphones, BlackBerry users will be used to “being behind” and the Oreo update brings all the standard Oreo goodness to their older KEYone.
TCL will be rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo OTA update at 9:00AM ET. It will be available to both unlocked and carrier locked devices. BlackBerry KEYone users can also manually check for the update by going to Settings -> System -> System Updates.
At the core of the KEYone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 mobile platform with the Qualcomm Adreno 506 GPU. It includes Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology, making it possible for the 3505 mAh battery on the KEYone to receive up to 50 percent charge in roughly 36 minutes. And for when you only have a few moments to grab a fast charge, BlackBerry’s Boost can turbo charge your battery to get you the most charge with the limited time you have.
Coming to the camera, there is a 12MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, and dual tone LED flash. For selfies, there is an 8MP front camera with 1.12 µm pixel size. Both the cameras can record videos at a maximum of Full HD resolution.
Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, 3.5mm Audio port, and USB Type-C port. With the NFC and fingerprint sensor, the KeyOne can be used for making payments using the Android Pay.
