Google today unveiled the Nexus 6P, dropping the size a little but bringing a gorgeous aluminum body.
The Nexus 6P is 7.3 mm thick and has a 5.7-inch WQHD AMOLED display with 2560 x 1440 resolution, has a Snapdragon 810 processor and 3GB of RAM. It also includes a large 3450mAh battery to keep the lights on.
The Nexus 6P is also switching over to USB Type-C for charging. The new reversible cable is starting to spread throughout the tech industry, and Google officially adds support for it in Marshmallow, the new version of Android that’s shipping on this phone. Google says that the Nexus 6P also supports fast charging, allowing it to charge twice as fast as an iPhone 6 Plus.
Naturally, Nexus 6P runs Android 6.0, and amongst the most important additions there is universal support for the phone’s fingerprint sensor. Google’s calling this “Nexus Imprint†on this phone. Interestingly, Google’s opted to put the fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone.
A huge addition is that you can use it in any appâ€â€not just as a way to unlock your phone.
Additionally, the phone has a 12.3-megapixel Sony image sensor and an 8 megapixel front-facing chip.
The phone shoots at up to 240 frames per second in video modeâ€â€I’m assuming that’s 1920×1080 HD video. It also supports 4K capture at 30 frames per second.
The phones will be for sale at the Google Store. It’ll be available for pre-order today. It’ll cost £449, £499, and £579 for the 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB.
