Since it launched its first Nokia-branded smartphones at the start of the year, HMD Global, the licensees of the Nokia brand, has been prompt in releasing Android security patch updates every month, something that well-established Android device makers struggle with.
Nokia said that it will deliver monthly security updates to its phones, and it’s continuing to do just that.
The Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 picked up the August security release, a few days after Google rolled out the update, and now the Nokia 5 is picking up the September security update alongside the Pixels.
The company is also promising to release the Android 8.0, Oreo, update to all its Android smartphones in due course.
BlackBerry used to be prompt with the monthly security updates but this has got steadily worse since TCL took over the smartphone operations.
