Huawei Mate 20 X 5G now available to pre-order in Qatar

Huawei has launched the Mate 20 X 5G in Qatar.  During the pre-order period, the 5G smartphone will be available on Vodafone exclusively.  Once the pre-order period has expired, the phone will be available to purchase on other carriers.

Aside from its whopping 7.2-inch display, the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G is packing Huawei’s Kirin 980 processor, a huge 4,200mAh battery and a triple camera array on the back, consisting of standard zoom, telephoto zoom and super wide angle.

Powered by the same 7nm Kirin 980 chip as its current flagships, Huawei Mate 20 X 5G uses the Balong 5000 chipset to enable the next-generation mobile connectivity. It also supports previous-gen networks – everything from 2G up to 5G – and Huawei claims switching between these networks is possible with lower latency and reduced power consumption.

These include the SA (Standalone, 5G independent network) and NSA (Non Standalone, 5G non-independent networking).

It has a lower-capacity 4,200mAh battery than the 5,000mAh pack inside the regular Mate 20 X, but supports 40W SuperCharge for faster charging and has an AI-powered optimisation mode for regulating power consumption in the background.

The 5G Mate 20 X also features an advanced cooling solution with a vapour chamber and graphene heat pipes, known as SuperCool. This will help keep things cool when streaming 4K video and intensive games.

Ian Li, President of Huawei Consumer Businesss Group Middle East Multi Countries said:

“5G is ushering in a new world of connectivity and we are proud to be at the forefront, setting a world standard for what smartphones can do. The Huawei Mate 20 X 5G is a work of art from our intensive investment into 5G and this is only the beginning. This launch is part of a strategic agreement between Huawei and Vodafone Qatar. Together, we are laying the ground for technologies that will support Qatar and its vision; and we will continue to provide a new intelligent life experience.”

Other specifications are largely similar to that of the standard Mate 20 X, which is a larger version of the Mate 20 with a 7.2in FullView (2244×1080) IPS display and the addition of a headphone jack, but the loss of wireless charging and waterproofing. It has the same core hardware and triple-lens (40Mp + 20Mp + 8Mp) rear camera.

Sheikh Hamad Bin Abdulla Al Thani, CEO, Vodafone Qatar, said:

“Vodafone Qatar is proud to be the exclusive provider of the Mate 20 X 5G, working in partnership with Huawei Consumer Business Group to introduce consumers to this distinctive 5G device. Vodafone Qatar is leading the deployment of 5G in Qatar across key locations. Now with the launch of Mate 20 X 5G, customers will be able to experience the 5G difference on our state of the art 5G network.”
